Have you ever had a Graze Box arrive through your letterbox and wish that it was filled this whisky, rather than nuts, seeds and other assorted bits of dust? Well, if you have, then the new whisky delivery service from the guys at The Dram Team will be right up your street.
The new service is a joint effort between Chris Borrow, James “Jay” Glen and whisky blogging supremo Greg Dillon of the GreatDrams whisky blog. Apparently, Greg first had the idea four years ago, although never had time to bring it to fruition. Looks like he’s pulled his finger out now, with impressive results.
The concept is pretty simple – each box of whisky contains:
- Five 25ml drams of whisky
- One 10ml taster dram of a “super-special” whisky
- A set of deluxe tasting cards
- A letter giving a guided tour of the flight
Greg will be curating the drams each month with a clear mandate – don’t be obvious. And this is an approach which I whole heartedly agree with. There’s no point either setting up a service like this or signing up to it, simply for it to be filled with bog standard drams each month. Rather, it’s designed to help people try new whiskies, explore the produce from many different countries and just generally enjoy what the world of whisky has to offer.
This is reflected in the launch box which contains:
- Inchmurrin 18 Year Old
- Auchentoshan Three Wood
- Glen Scotia – Double Cask
- Bowmore – Darkest (Aged 15 Years)
- Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength
- Highland Park 21 Year Old
…with the whole thing coming beautifully packaged in a well thought out presentation box.
You’ve two options for purchasing – either a one-off gift (for yourself or someone who’ll share it with you) or a monthly subscription service, with three months available for £63.75, for a limited time (usual price £75).
All in all, a great product if you are looking for a way to expand your whisky horizons. It’s what’s in the box that’s most important though, so check back later this week for my thoughts on the six drams included in The Dram Team’s launch box.
You can find out more about the venture (and order your first box, obviously) here.
