For many (including me) the festive season is about eating, drinking and by VERY MERRY. And I’ll be starting my festive drinking very early this year thanks to the team at the Gin Foundry, who have kindly sent me one of their famous Ginvent Calendars.
Created by brothers Olivier and Emile, each box is filled with 24 gins which provide a snapshot of the spirit’s depth, diversity and global reach. They have scoured the gin world in search of the very best, the most unusual, and (most importantly) the most delicious gins.
The collection has been carefully assembled to ensure that all styles of gin are included, from London Dry to Old Tom, to Navy Strength and fruit infused. An effort has also been made to showcase all types of producers, with the box also containing some exclusive and newly release spirits.
During each and every day of Ginvent, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the day’s offering over on Twitter, where we can share and explore the new gins together. The format between now and Christmas Day is quite simple:
7:30pm – The tasting kicks off, with the unveiling of that day’s tipple
7:32pm – Nose: how does it smell? What are the flavours?
7:35pm – Palate: how does it taste? Are the flavours different from the nose?
7:40pm – Suggested garnishes or pairings – what would work will with it?
7:45pm – Overall impressions
7:50pm – Done!
If I’m busy with other activities on certain evenings, then I’ll either schedule my Tweets in advance or follow-up at a later stage.
